It was founded in the XV century by Ivan Crnojevic, the ruler of Zeta of that period. It is not at all an easy task to decide which of numerous monuments we should introduce you to. The choice had to be made and, hence, we decided to visit King Nicola’s Palace and Monastery of Cetinje. King Nicola’s Palace - Initially, when it was founded in 1926, it was a National Museum and later, it became State Museum of Montenegro. It possesses tens of thousands of objects organized in archeological, ethnographic and art collections, as well as in collections of medals, weapons, plaques, stamps, coat of arms, flags and photos.
Biljarda, the palace is in the historic center of Cetinje, near the Cetinje Monastery. Prince-Bishop Petar II Petrović-Njegoš started the building of the palace on 29 March 1838. Initially, it was called the 'New House', but soon it got its new name 'Biljarda' (Billiard House) after the central room on the first floor which contained a billiard table, the prince-bishop's favorite game.
From Cetinje, the road leads us to Sveti Stefan Island. The Stevi Stefan island was once a trading center of the Pastrovic clan, was a significant and strategic location during the Venetians but by the end of 19th century the inhabitants of the island began to immigrate. After 1955 the island was renovated and turned into a hotel.
